ChatGPT is generally safe for everyday use, but by default, it saves your conversations to help train its "brain." If you value your privacy, you might not want your chats to become part of the system. You can easily change this in the settings menu to keep your conversations private.

Step 1: Open the Settings You need to find the control panel for your account.

On a computer, click your name or the little circle icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen. A menu will pop up. Click on Settings.

Step 2: Find Data Controls Look for the section that manages your data.

In the Settings menu, look for a tab called Data Controls or sometimes just Data. Click on it. You should see an option that says something like "Chat History & Training" or "Improve the model for everyone."

Step 3: Turn It Off Flip the switch to stop the sharing.

Toggle that switch to Off (it usually turns from green to gray). Now, OpenAI (the company that makes ChatGPT) will not use your future conversations to train their models. Note: This might also turn off your ability to see past chats in the sidebar, so decide which is more important to you: history or privacy.
